Questions and Comments

Question / Comment:

Some Alectra customers pay different or higher fees than Guelph Hydro customers. Would new or higher fees be introduced after a merger?

Response:

Guelph Hydro’s current rates, fees, and charges would continue for customers in Guelph and Rockwood.

The Ontario Energy board has allowed communities involved in the previous Alectra merger to continue operating as separate rates zone, and we expect the same would be true for Guelph. If Guelph Hydro either doesn’t charge for certain services or charges less than Alectra, Guelph’s rates would continue to apply to Guelph and Rockwood customers.

Much later, as the companies complete the transition and realize cost savings from synergies, rates and fees throughout the entire service area would only be harmonized when the Ontario Energy Board is satisfied that rate changes would not adversely affect customers.
